Good Day to you fantasy managers. I took 2 weeks off from writing the recaps because, well it takes a good bit of time, and I was in a training course, plus you all know how much time I waste at Rudino's (half of you are there with me!!). I'm in another course this week, but it's not as intensive so I'm slapping something together for your reading pleasure.
Division 1
H2H: Sack's in the City finally got her first win, and man what a whamdinger it was. 143 points is good for max points in the H2H division. It might help with her overall standings, but I doubt it. Zackin' off almost mounted a comeback against me despite leaving Jared Goff on the bench with that heater game he had in Dallas. Meanwhile Henny and Mike are out watching the MLB playoff because they both put up turds for performances this week. And here I thought I might have a challenge for first place in H2H. Due to points for, Rick takes over 2nd place from Henny and I remain firmly in first, while Kari's monster game did little to get her out of the basement and remains in last place (double whammy for her because Dallas "dem boys" got "dat ass" whipped by Detroit).
PNTS: Show me your TD's didn't even bother setting a lineup and left his 2nd RB slot blank, and Marvin Harrison left with a concussion so that 59 points scored was pretty rough...good for last place this week. Sam had a monster game to extend her lead at 4th place, leaving Missy in 2nd and Rick in 3rd. Lots of 100-point games this week. Yours Truly squeaked out just enough points to pass Bennet for 7th place which is slightly better than what I've been doing.
Division 2
H2H: In a league where you're either a big winner or a big loser (only one person has a 3-3 record) Steve remains atop the mountain and undefeated. Despite going 4-2 both Sue and Alanna drop in the overall rankings going down to 4th and 5th while Larry and Seth move up to 2 and 3 also with 4-2 records. The 149 point game from Seth really helped him in the overall rankings (he jumped from 13 to 7)...in stark contrast to Ethan's 39 point game. That's just embarrassing.
PNTS: While John 'old man' Mullins is still struggling with getting his name right so he can get some points in the overall standings he sure had himself a game this week. Not quite good for max points, but his 129 was the best in the division this week, good enough to bump him up a spot. At the top of this division we have Justin, Alanna, and Mike all duking it out for first place. 126 points from Mike and his glorious team this week put him just 19 points behind the lead with Alanna at 17 down. Steve was .2 points shy of a 69. He may be rocking his H2H division, but he's all sorts of 'meh' in points. I'm sure he doesn't care because he is the overall leader right now with 97 points (but I'm knockin on the door bro). I'm gonna need you all to take him down a notch so I can overtake him at first.
Division 3
H2H: Gonna Hurts Ya posted 139 points just shy of maxing out points for the week, but good enough for a 2nd win. And in the H2H leagues they ALL matter!! Dallas Desperados stay on that winning streak moving to 5-1 despite only scoring 87 points. Rickey's strong record in H2H is keeping him in the overall race. Fun fact: everyone in 1st place in their H2H division is also in 7th place in their respective Points division. The rest of this division kind of stunk it up this week with only 3 players topping the 100 point mark. Tsk Tsk.
PNTS: Looks like Rickey had performance anxiety in both his divisions this week. His 75 points was good for last place this week effectively dropping him from 4th to 7th. Those additional six points would be good for 6th place overall, but he sits at 10th. Lance remains in first place with yet another strong showing. It's going to be hard to overcome that 63 point lead he has for first place. You all need to start chipping away rather than letting it get bigger! The division as a whole performed well with 5 players scoring over 100 and 2 players falling just shy at 99.
That's week 6 everybody!!! As you can see, with bye weeks and injuries piling up, it is VERY important to monitor your team. My recommendation is to set your lineup first thing Wednesday morning. At the very least get someone that is playing in EVERY slot. You can hem and haw over it later and make your last-minute changes, but it's very important to have someone playing in every position if you want a W or if you even just want points to move up in the points league. We are officially 1/3rd through the season friends. I really hope everyone is having fun with the league whether you're a contender or not. Remember, even if you aren't close to winning it all, you will at least get some money back if you can manage to win either your points or H2H division. Not to mention you can play spoiler by beating someone towards the end of the season which is nearly as fun as winning money!!!! Stay engaged and work that waiver wire if you are falling behind. Go back and re-read the articles I wrote and see if you can find a way to improve. And trading is an option, if you have a stud RB on the bench every week because you just don't have a spot to play him, look to offer him up as a trade, because I know there are some people out there begging for even a moderately good running back!! Edit: I jacked up the max points discussion (I forgot we bumped max points to scoring 150 in H2H this year)
FFL should allow us to make changes on those game time decisions. My guy goes from a maybe Q to Out. If he doesn't splay a single second, we should be able to swap with someone on the bench. Just saying. Also I know, I gambled on the Q and clearly lost, thanks for the reminder.
