Good day fantasy managers and congratulations to you Head to Head winners in week 1 and all you heavy point getters in the Points Divisions. I'm putting up this post for those that may be new to try and help with some basic management stuff on Yahoo. I wanted to get one week in so you could kind of see how stuff is going down. If you're brand spanking new to this, hopefully you've played with the platform a little bit so you are a little more knowledgeable on how to get shit done.
As you can see, after Monday Night Football, the week ends. You'll get your W or L for head to head, and the points you scored will be registered in the points league. And your team will reset in order to set your lineup for the next week. The first thing you need to worry about is the Waiver Wire (dun dun duuuuun).Managers have all day Tuesday to research the waiver wire (and hopefully they were watching some football and taking mental notes during all the games). At 1159 PST Tuesday evening, all players are pulled off the waiver wire, and are available for pickup. At the start of their game for the week, they are placed back on waivers and this process continues throughout the year. To put in a waiver claim you just need to go into Yahoo, find a player you want to add, and click the + (green means the player is immediately available, yellow means you will have to make a waiver claim). You will likely have to choose a player to drop also (to maintain team size limits). Once you've completed the process, you will see the transaction in your transaction list at the top of your roster. If you have made several selections for players to pick up, they will all show up and you can re-prioritize them as you see fit. When Yahoo processes all waiver claims at 0000 Wednesday morning, it will give priority to the person in last place (reverse order of standings). This allows those who do poorly to get first selections on the waiver wire helping to keep the league competitive. For each successful waiver claim (meaning you got the player before someone else did) you will see that player added to your roster and the player you chose to drop removed from your roster. Remember, you dramatically increase your chances of winning when you are actively utilizing the waiver wire to make your team better. This is where the fantasy "Manager" title comes in. Do your work, be active, and if you're new, this is how you get better. There are plenty of vets in the league, if you have questions post them. I'm not hording knowledge so I can win, and I don't think any of the other vets will either.
You are now ready for the new week!!! Do your research, find the good matchups and proceed to be riddled with anxiety as you contemplate whether you are making good pickups or starting the right players (I know I didn't, Jayden Reed with 31 points was on the bench in TWO of my leagues). Best of luck to you noobies in your first Waiver Wire brawl!!!!
Time to gobble up these waivers.
