Good day my HardCorps managers. I figured we’re getting into the playoff race, and things couldn’t be tighter, so I wanted to provide a Week 12 update!
I’m not going to do this the traditional way where I break down three matches, so it’ll just be some stream of consciousness. And first on that stream: 171.46 points!!! What in the name of the Thunder God crawled up JJ’s ass this week? That is easily the highest score this league has ever seen. Chubber’s Out rips off consecutive weeks of ass kickery (149 and 171 points). Fuck Stella and her groove, JJ got his Chubb back. It was a whole team effort. Apart from NYG’s pedestrian RB T.Tracy Jr, every single player on his team racked up either high teens or 20s for points, and Mahomes popped off for 31. Honestly none of those performances are on par with the multiple 40 point games we’ve seen from players on other weekly high score teams, but when the whole team performs at a well above average pace, good things are going to happen. Unfortunately for Motown, this loss all but eliminates him from playoff contention. He will likely have to win out, or get a lot of help from some of the 5 win teams losing out.
Next up. Since the 9-win teams had both locked up their playoff spot, it seems they pulled the equivalent of ‘resting their starters.’ Geoff didn’t do any of the 5-win playoff hopefuls a favor by laying down and giving Missy her 7th win. And Dave did do at least 1 5-win team a favor and gave me my 6th win.
Berserkers’ 5 win streak is finally brought to an end by Captain Spoiler..erm I mean Checkdown. Starting 0-6 nobody saw Lance as having a snowball’s chance in hell at making the playoffs, yet even with this week’s loss, his phoenix story is not quite over. He’ll need some luck over the next two weeks, but a wildcard slot is not out of reach. Oddly enough, this win keeps Jason in the mix for a spot too.
Finally, I would like to, once more, commend the talent level in this league. If the games pan out after tonight’s game as they are likely to, we will be down to 2 weeks left in the league and ZERO teams statistically eliminated. If the 4-win teams win out, and the 5-win teams end up at 6 wins (or less) it is possible a current 4-win team can make it in on a wild card. In the Thor division, both Lance and Steve have more PF than Drew so if they end up tied at 7 either of them can take Drew out as the division winner and get an automatic bid. Relegating Drew to a wildcard. What’s worse, is if that happens and any of the other 5 or 6 win teams gets to 7 wins, Drew could miss the playoffs completely. Geoff and Dave have already locked in their teams for playoff spots if not quite locking in the bye weeks yet. They could change that next week with wins.
All of that to say it is truly amazing the level of parity in this league, and I commend those that started slow sticking in the fight and not giving up. Berserkers, Captain, and Chubber all had pathetic starts including Lance’s 0-6 start. But they didn’t screw the league over and quit managing their teams and now, here they are, still in the mix to make the playoffs.
Disclaimer: I’m writing this before the Monday night game, and while it’s possible Dave and Lance may come back and win their games(<10%), it’s not likely. And if Motown comes back to win his, I’m giving him all the winnings from this year and shutting down the league because the end of the world is just around the corner.

yeap im done for. but it would be nice to take someone down with me...grinch grin.
Well, everything panned out as we thought it would in Wk12. So, as of this moment, everyone is still in the hunt. We have a nightmare scenario where 7 teams could finish 6-8 and the other 5 have the remaining playoff bids. However, that is unlikely to happen. So lets take a look at just this week and see what everyone needs.
Must win scenario: Chubber, Motown, Captain. With only 4 wins these teams MUST win out or they will get an automatic bid…to the LOSERS bracket. Even with 2 more wins, you’ll need an act of the gods to save your chances.
Really need a win scenario: Travis and Lance. In reality, Travis also needs to win out, because if he loses, his best possible record is 6-8 and with the lowest PF in the league by a wide margin, he’s not winning any tie breakers. (I suppose a 250 point game is possible, but not likely…and even then I don’t think he’d win the tiebreaker). Lance on the other hand is well positioned to get the tie breaker in a “6 win gets in” scenario, but that would require some help AND he would need some high scoring games over the next two weeks to have a real shot. Both of these guys can win out and still not get in.
A loss isn’t the end of the world: Re Re, OP McFury, and Browneye. If these teams win out, they are in. Steve is in the most comfortable spot. The win over Drew this week gave him a chance win the division removing the need for a wild card spot. If they end with the same record, Steve has the tie breaker. Between Dane and Bennet, the Browneye has the advantage. He can lose this week but if he beats me in week 14, he is in. I can lose this week and beat him in week 14 to go, but I would need him to lose this week also (unless he scores REALLY poorly, and I score really well and end up with the tie breaker). These three control their own destiny, win out and they are in.
I ain’t sweatin’, I could lose twice and still get in: Drew and Missy. The 7-win teams have a nice cushion, though Drew’s position is a bit more precarious. 2 people are in a position to catch him for first place, and both have significantly higher point totals. Missy’s win over Geoff put her in a position to have a shot at first and even a first round bye if all the cards fall in her favor. Bottom line: these two also control their own destiny.
You guys are still trying to get in? We dun BEEN in: Geoff and Dave. Not only are these two in, if they get one more win, they lock in the first-round byes too. We all know that anything can happen in the playoffs and nobody gives SHIT what your record or PF was. So that first round bye is a huge stress relief. Good luck and may the odds be ever in my favor.
