Good day my HardCorps managers. As we approach the opening of week 4 tonight, lets glance back at the last week of the first round of interdivisional play. Week 3 saw great story lines. We went in with 3 undefeated, and emerged with only one. Berserkers and Captain Checkdown are still awaiting that first W. And Travis seems to have been hit with the shock paddles because after 2 weeks of really crappy performance, not only did he win his game, he was the weekly high score!!
Let's do some game breakdowns:
Put Your Dak Into It v Brown Eye
This weeks WHS (Weekly High Score) goes to Travis and boy howdy did he need it. 1, because he had a couple really bad weeks, and 2, If he didn't get it, Bennet would have beaten him because Bennet was the second highest score of the week. In a relatively low scoring week, the two best scores went head to head. Brown Eye with his perfect record up against Travis with his perfect....ly winless record. Both managers started the week with the early Sunday games where Bennet jumped to a 25 point lead. But Travis would not go quietly into that dark night. He dropped 68 points during the late Sunday games and secured a 10 point lead. Both managers had nobody playing on Sunday night so it came down to MNF. And, while Bennet made a smart move by picking up my sloppy seconds in Terry McLaurin (who more than doubled his points from the previous 2 games COMBINED...when he was on my team), the 18 points put on the board was not enough to get past Travis for the W.
Hall or Nothing v OP McFury
This was the battle of the unbeatens and only one could emerge unblemished. You would expect a matchup between 2 unbeaten teams would result in a more impressive final score. It wasn't. With neither team breaking 100 Steve was able to notch the W with a mere 97 points. Both managers made the wrong decision at starting QB with Steve getting a loathsome 7 points out of Richardson, compared to nearly 30 from Purdy, while Drew 12 from is starter (Jalen Hurts!?!?!?!) and left 22 on the bench in Caleb Williams' (?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?) pocket. Steve was able to get a dominant performance out his RBs scoring a total of 45 points across Gibbs, Kamara, and Charbonnet (a Michigan Man). But that's where the good news ended for him. Nobody else even broke into double digits. Chris Olave was the lone bright spot for Drew, outperforming his projections by 6 points. The real dick kick for Hall or Nothing came with R. Stevenson's .3 points. OUCH! This matchup also happened to be the biggest blowout of the week, so I won't do 3 games this week.
Since I only covered 2 games this week lets talk about some other notable developments. CMC can suck my ass. I've owned him a total of twice in my fantasy career. The first time was when he missed the entire season after an early injury. The 2nd, well it remains to be determined but it's looking like more than half the season is lost. Loki is having a ball with my fantasy emotions. Jason finally notched a win by beating Berserkers who still hasn't found a W this year. But at least Lance got a contract on a rookie QB that isn't even going to play this year! (I can feel the karma building for my shit talk when JJ McCarthy is QB1 next year and Lance looks like a genius). Despite having the lowest point total by a fairly large margin, Travis does at least have win; and that's more than can be said for JJ who is sitting on a pretty bad point total himself, as well as a goose egg in the W column. The only other player who hasn't put at least 300 in the Points For category is Maximum Effort who despite the crappy totals has managed to stay above .500 with 2 wins. Everybody loves Geoff (even the football gods). In a rare event, Brown Eye, OP, and Motown all lead their divisions and they have the most PF in their respective divisions. We usually see at least one or two point monsters getting screwed over.
ODIN: This division continues to make up ground with the 2 highest scores this week and a 3rd breaking 100. Only one slacker hurt them this week (/insert Jim Carey "it was MEEEEEEEE" meme). Total-1180.4
THOR: A few more lackluster performances from those in the Thor division, and thier lead is now less than 100. 2 straight weeks of falling back. Total-1300.52
FREYA: Freya posted the best point total this week. While they didn't have either of the highest scores, almost all of them broke 100, with only one failing to meet the mark but only barely (99.38). Total-1216.76
Final thoughts: Tonight should be a fun game. Dallas v NYG. Dallas perennially over rated, and NYG not quite as shitty as everyone thinks they are (but very close). This will be the first week of inter division play where PF and PA stats start becoming a little more fun. It's also the last week with no byes. Oh yay, now Ill be getting it from both ends with byes AND injuries. FML.
thank you for the write up. now on to the inter-divisional play and bye week management for about 10wks. Lets see what you folks got. Remember Motown Rocks.
